Winter SPECIAL ♥ ♥ “Little Fire Pot”

Does everyone enjoy the extra hour that we have for today????? I do, so happy that I can sleep one more hour. ^_^ The daylight saving time is over so that means the summer is over too. The weather in San Francisco is also getting colder and foggy in the night. This is the best timing to have a hot pot in the night. Today, I am going to recommend a place for Chinese hot pot that I always go to. The name of restaurant “Little Fire Pot” is the direct translate from Chinese that means little hot pot. The best part of this restaurant is that you DON’T have to share a big pot with all you friend, instead you get to have your own pot and your own flavor of soup.  Moreover, there are bars in the restaurant, so it is a good time to enjoy your hot pot and watch games in a warm circumstance.
The menu is very special too that will SURPRISED you. Beside all the things about hot pot, they also sell traditional Chinese dishes such as onion pancake, dumplings, and Chinese curry.  For people who are not a fan of hot pot, they have many things beside hot pot. For the hot pot side, they have set meal that cost $23 and ALL YOU CAN EAT for $26. The set meal is big enough to make a young man to be full. For me, I always eat twice for a single set meal. I order All You Can eat once, but still do not eat much than before, but there are more choices in all you can eat, such as sea foods and fish ball. Now, let me introduce the menu!!!!
-Set menu includes choice of soup, choice of meat, choice of broth, and choice, and choice of starch.
-All you can eat includes meat, vegetables, tofu, noodle, rice, and sauce
This is what we order for today~~~~~~~~
Starting from the sauce……….

Satay Sauce

Herb Condiments (garlic, green onion, and ginger)

Egg

Add all the herb condiments in to the satay sauce and then plus a little bit of soy sauce. I like to add a yolk (put egg white in another bowl) in my sauce to make it juicier. Save the egg white for last to put in to the hot pot. This is what we do in Chinese culture but not many people can accept that so I suggest another way. After the mixture, add a spoon od soup  to mix with the sauce so it is not too dry. After this, the sauce is READY for hot pot!!!!!

Mongolian- Sichuan Hot Pot

One of my favorite hot pot!!! I always order this >< The soup is made from many herbs so it is very suitable for people who like herb. However, the soup is already salty so there is no need to use the sauce, just add a little bit. After cooking all the vegetables and meat, the soup will become very delicious. I can always drink so many bowls.

Vegetables for Mongolian Hot Pot

This plate include beef dumpling, fu-Zhou fishball, fish tofu, tendonball, lobsterball, caviar fishball, porkball, bamboo pith, napa, tung-ho, mushroom, frozen tofu, beancurd, dalkon, bamboo pitch, imit crab, and tripe. WOW, lot of things in there, that’s why i always cannot finish all of them. I like fishball and fish tofu, they taste good and soft. I recommend to cook all the balls first, because it takes a little bit more time for them to be well down ^^.

Tokyo- Taipei shabu-shabu

Very different form Mongolian hot pot. As you can see the soup is crystal and clear with soup-stock. This is traditional soup that we have in other shabu shabu place. It is very suitable for people who do not like to eat salty food. You get to enjoy the original flavor of all the food and the combination with the sauce that we make in the beginning.

Vegetables for Tokyo & Taipei hot pot

This plate includes shrimp paste, mocha cake, Japanese fishcake, Fu-Zhou ball, hot pot dumplings, Taiwan porkball, napa, spinach, shiitake, corn, tomato, taro, kabocha pumpkin, tofu, yam thread. There is a slightly different with the Mongolian hot pot. Must try shrimp paste, it is very smooth and soft that make your mouth full of shrimp. Also, it is not common to see mocha cake, and the mocha cake they have does has mocha inside so I like it very much.  The Japanese fish cake and hot pot dumplings are very traditional things and they taste okay.

Beef (Angus Short Rib )

All of us order the short rib because it is the best beef. It is not too fat or skinny. It is also very thin which is perfect for shabu shabu. Don’t overcook it, just place it in the soup for a few seconds and then put it in the sauce. After that, perfect and ready to eat^^

Rice with Meat Sauce

This is MUST TRY dish!!!!!!!! Even though it is a hot pot restaurant, this dish is better than their hot pot. Just see it or smell it, you will want to eat it immediately. The meat sauce is made from streaky pork but it is not oily at all. That’s why I love this rice with meat sauce, because I get to taste the perfect combination of rice and fat pork but not oil or disgusting at all. For people who are scared of the oil of pork fat, don’t worry at all, this rice with meat sauce is your best choice!

Overall, it is a good place to go when you are lazy to cook or feel like having a hot pot. There is a parking lot right beside it, so need to spend time to find a spot. It is definitely a good choice in a cold winter.
